- Answer: staff members at child care center full fill the primary caregiver as well as support roles:-
support roles :- when staff members are involved in support functions such as touring parents cooking cleaning or critical task they are not considered to be primary staff members at that time while in these roles, staff are NOT considered to be directly responsible for the care and supervision of children and cannot be included in staff-child ratios( child care regulation)
Primary (caregiving) roles: - Refers to a person on staff whose duty is direct child care and who is actively engaged in the supervision safety wellbeing and development of children only primary staff engaged in these roles can be included in staff-child ratios. Most of the times spend by the child care workers are in these four categories: caregiving, educating, organizing, and connecting with families and the community. Connecting with families and community is another important role caregivers play is in linking the families and the community. Children do better in child care when there are positive relationship between the child care workers and the parents, and when information about the child is passed back and forth.
